About
Co-founded by Ed Gonzalez and Sal Cinquemani in 2001, Slant Magazine quickly became known for its edgy, irreverent pop-cultural criticism. Using a grassroots approach, the site has carved a unique niche for itself in the world of film, music, and beyond. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times once called Gonzalez a “critic I admire” because of his “forcible writing style,” while the New York Times cited Slant as “a repository of passionate and often prickly pop-cultural analysis.” Slant’s writers have appeared on MSNBC, BBC, CNN, and NPR, and have written for The New York Times, the Village Voice, The Notebook, Reverse Shot, The Brooklyn Rail, Time Out New York, and other prominent publications.
